Fundraising

As a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization, Friends must demonstrate a broad base of financial support from library patrons and the community. With this foundation of support, Friends can then apply for grants from foundations and other types of funding agencies.

In 2005, Friends embarked on a campaign to raise funds to obtain a state-of-the-art digital recording studio for the Library. With the help of generous donations to this effort, the studio was officially opened in Fall 2007.

Friends also sponsored “Sounds and Scenes - an Evening of Jazz and Art” at Center Stage theater in 2007. Proceeds from this event were directed toward helping the Library to establish a computer laboratory. The computer lab is equipped with a variety of assistive technology hardware and software.
